Why TV commercials suck and how to fix them?

Commercials during your favourite TV shows are often called “a necessary evil”. To some extent that’s understandable – people need to make money and show paid ads during prime-time television is a great way to do so.

But do commercials really HAVE to suck? Isn’t there some way that we could actually make them better – better for the audience AND better for the companies pushing those ads? I say this because I figure that:

The Best Ads

How do you rank one ad as being better than other ads? Is rating advertising an objective act based on measurable criteria or is it subjective, based on whether you liked the model in that commercial or not?

Outsource your blogging chores – for free!

There are two ways that you can outsource the non-essential chores of running your blog (and this includes promoting as well).

The obvious way is to hire help – we’ve talked about this in the past here on Performancing and we even have a Blogger Jobs forum dedicated for this purpose. Depending on what tasks you need done, you might be paying anywhere from $100 to $1,000 per month per hired hand (it all depends on how much work you are outsourcing – for design / marketing / lead blogging gigs, you might pay more than $1,000 per month).

The second method is to ask your readers for help. Depending on how much of a fan following you’ve built up (and whether you have dedicated blog readers who can spare time or not), this can really help you outsource a majority of your work, for free, thus giving you more time to grow your blog and take it to the next level.

Have you weaned your blog from AdSense yet?

Many bloggers are strongly against AdSense. To be fair to Google (and staying away from some silly reasons to hate AdSense), it’s not so much AdSense that’s a problem rather than the way you need to use it to get maximum revenue from it.

If you do not want to turn your blog into an ad clicking machine, then you’ve probably explored alternatives to Google AdSense. At this point, 2 things happen to 99% of the people looking for alternatives to AdSense:

One, they find out that the alternatives don’t pay as much in their niche.

Two, they realise that the alternatives are not as easy to implement – whether because of more work required on your part (affiliate / own products) or because of ad network requirements (minimum monthly pageviews, etc).

While Google AdSense has been a good friend to me on Soccerlens, In the last few months I’ve made a move away from it. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:

Three Keys To Effective Delegation

To delegate is more than just a means to clear your desk for more important work – it’s also about creating systems and processes that build a reliable framework for your business to scale beyond your day-to-day management.

A task that you delegate should not be something that you need to repeatedly explain or constantly supervise. In the same vein, repetitive tasks that can easily be completed by someone else with basic training shouldn’t be on your to-do list.

If you want to free up time from tedious tasks, delegate effectively, scale your business and most importantly, spend more time doing what’s most important to you, follow these three steps:

The Ride Of A Lifetime

Pop open the can. Take a swig. Light another smoke. Keep an eye on the floor – make sure no one’s pushing the stripper too hard. Yea, it’s all good. Time to make the rounds.

Three years is a long time for many, for me it passed by in a blink of an eye. Sure; the seconds turned to hours and the minutes to days, but on a whole, I remember the last three years as a blur. There are patches of memory which seem to shy away from attention, and there are those that stand out far too strongly for comfort.

And of course, there was my muse.
